Harrisburg Academy is seeking a dynamic and innovative educator to serve as our next Director of the Extended Day Program and Summer Camp. The Director is responsible for managing the business, programmatic, and operational aspects of the after-school and summer programs. The Director oversees the extended day program (EDP), which is inclusive of the Early Childhood, Lower School, and Middle School Study Club. The Director is also responsible for working with Lower School and EDP teachers to generate after-school and summer programming activities. The successful applicant will receive a 12-month contract.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Manage the business, programmatic, and operational aspects of the program.
- Oversee the program budget to ensure the fiscal health of the program.
- Work closely with the business office to ensure billing matters are handled in a timely manner.
- Partner with the communications office to advertise the after-school and summer programs and schedules.
- Collaborate to assist in the creation of marketing and promotional materials.
- In collaboration with the Head of School, recruit, hire, and retain staff in compliance with school recruiting and hiring policies.
- Collaborate with division heads to provide EDP staff development, training, and team building in alignment with the Academy’s overall mission.
- Schedule EDP and summer staff members.
- Schedule and communicate with external and internal vendors.
- Coordinate fall, winter, and spring after-school clubs for the lower school.
- Serve as lead teacher and administrator during EDP.
- Serve as lead camp counselor and administrator during the summer camp day, including on field trips.
- Lead EDP and Summer Camp staff meetings.
- Consistently provide high levels of customer service in a positive and professional manner to internal and external members of the community.
- Foster collegiality and positive morale among staff.
Preferred qualifications include a proven record of:
- Competence in connecting with students and creating a healthy community culture
- Competence in connecting with parents
- Organized and purposeful about materials and plans
- Collaboration with faculty and administration
- Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field
