Sea Crest School is growing our Student Support Team and seeks a Counselor & SEL Coordinator beginning in the 2022-2023 school year. This position will work closely with administration and faculty across the grade span to support and maintain a student-centered school community, JK-8th. The Counselor & SEL Coordinator is responsible for implementing best practices in counseling, and coordinating resources, programs, and initiatives to promote community wellbeing. This role will be a member of the Student Support Team with key responsibilities to include:
- provide counseling and make referrals to outside therapists
- support students with targeted behavior plans
- facilitate friendship & social skills in small groups
- monitor students in need on the playground and classroom providing written observations for families and teachers
- ongoing review and updating of the SEL curriculum
- teach key SEL lessons across the grade span
- lead the Advisory program planning for grades 5-8
- participate in wellness program development
- attend select overnight outdoor education trips
- coordinate community partnerships with allied-health professionals
- conduct parent education on social-emotional practices and common language to enhance school-to-home communication
- monitor student stress levels and academic load

- Current California License: Mental Health Services
- Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in School Counseling, Social Work or Psychology
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a school counselor, psychologist, or work in a related field
- Extensive knowledge of school-related social-emotional research and strategies and practices
- Passionate about collaborating with teachers, families and administration to support students JK-8
