The Director of Academic Guidance collaborates with administration to further the learning support framework for the school. The Director is responsible for leading the learning support program in grades 6 - PG and overseeing a team of Learning Specialists and AGC Coaches. In addition, the Director of Academic Guidance will manage a student caseload of their own, ensuring students receive the tools and support necessary to succeed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership to, collaborate with, and act as a resource to the faculty, administrations, and community on all matter pertaining to learning support.
• Articulate and execute a process for managing students' individual academic plans.
• Coordinate school-wide professional development in the areas of learning differences and learning to support for teachers and staff.
• Provide leadership and supervision in the day-to-day operations of the Academic Guidance Center program.
• Review testing, create and update individual academic plans, and facilitate and assist in discussions related to learning differences.
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of differentiated instructional strategies across the curriculum.
• Support faculty in differentiating plans for students based on their unique learning profiles to ensure that students are engaged and challenged and that each student has the opportunity for success.
• Collaborate with teachers and develop effective whole-group practices, small-group interventions, and individualized learning activities.
• Assist teachers with determining the effectiveness of interventions and accommodations.
• Serve as a resource for families and facilitate regular conversations around the school's learning support programs, accommodations, modifications, and student's individual learning plans.
• Remain current on research and act as a resource to faculty and administration in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices, including their implications for the school's programs.
• Work with college counseling office to provide information needed for eligibility with standardized testing.
• Collaborate the admissions team to work with prospective students and families to provide overview of AGC programming, to determine prospective students' academic support needs, and to create comprehensive onboarding plans of academic support for students with academic support needs.
• Serve as a key member of the administrative Student Support Team.
• Manage a caseload of students and provide direct student support through small-group and/or one-on-one instruction.
• Build strong and trusting relationships with students.
• Support students in the transfer of skills from Academic Guidance to their classwork, homework, and community interactions.
• Demonstrate professionalism and a strong work ethic and the ability to serve as a strong team member both inside and outside the classroom.

Other Duties:

• Night/weekend duty as assigned

Qualification Requirements:

• Master's degree required (special education, education preferred)
• At least 5 years prior experience in the field of learning support with a record of high achievement
• Expertise in interpretation and application of neuropsychoeducational testing, individual academic plan processes, reporting, and coordination of neuropsychoeducational testing services.
• Effective communication skills that promote positive relationships with students, families and colleagues
• Strong work ethic and high level of integrity
• Understanding of independent schools
