Employment Opportunity:
We are currently seeking a Lower School Library Assistant to begin in late August 2022. The Library Assistant works closely with the Lower School Librarian, supporting students and teachers, and ensuring that the Lower School Library is a welcoming place for all. This position requires a degree of independence and initiative and a willingness to actively support a busy, library and serve as a “help desk” for triage and support of student Chromebooks, and equipment in the Lower School Makerspace.
Status:
Full-time non-exempt during the academic year (mid- August through mid-June)
Hours:
Monday - Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm

Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight of the Lower School Library and adjacent Makerspace
- Supervise and assist students and faculty with obtaining library materials
- Provide the first point of contact and troubleshooting for student Chromebooks
- Support logistics and recording-keeping for the 1:1 Chromebook program
- Provide low-level troubleshooting and technical support for faculty
- Check books and other materials in and out
- Provide support for equipment, including iPads, Chromebooks, laptops, and AV equipment
- Shelve books when they are returned
- Create thematic book displays
- Support inventory and weeding processes
- Provide some “as-needed” cataloging
- Repair and label books for circulation
- Oversee library volunteers
- Secure the library space at the end of the day
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
- experience working in a school library, or other relevant library or classroom experience (preferred)
- interest in and/or experience working with lower school-aged students
- knowledge of or interest in children’s literature (preferred)
- flexibility and a willingness to collaborate
- responsiveness and good communication skills
- strong organization and attention to detail
- the ability to effectively multitask in a busy library
- familiarity with Chromebooks/Windows/iOS devices
- familiarity with G Suite
- experience using spreadsheets
- experience with library automation software (preferred)
Associate’s or Bachelor's degree and experience preferred
