The Cathedral School STEAM Camp welcomes rising Kindergarten to Grade 6 students. Campers are immersed in hands-on projects focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Our STEAM Camp sparks creativity, inspires collaboration, and promotes critical thinking and perseverance through maker-centered learning. The camp is structured in two-week sessions, each capturing one overarching theme. Campers visit the Innovation Lab daily where they are encouraged to explore their curiosities through designing, prototyping, and testing new ideas.
The Innovation Coordinator will be employed for six weeks at the Cathedral School STEAM Camp. S/he plans, coordinates, and oversees the STEAM camp curriculum to ensure that campers are receiving relevant, stimulating and enriching experiences.
Background Required and Qualifications:
- Must have at least three years of experience in education and/or STEAM and maker curriculum.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Possesses good leadership abilities, management and organizational skills.
- Patient, enthusiastic, self-controlled and dependable.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Understand and model all camp policies, rules, and guidelines, along with the mission of The Cathedral School
- Work with Camp Director to develop, supplement and update the summer STEAM curriculum and activities, specifically projects using technology in the Innovation Lab
- Research, gather and prep materials for each week of each class and manage supplies inventory
- Lead projects and activities for campers in the Innovation Lab
- Assess the overall STEAM program to see if there are any changes that need to be made for optimum functioning
- Coach and provide feedback to teachers and help them integrate STEAM concepts in the classroom
- Present on TBD dates for camp promotion, counselor orientation, and camp preparation
Camp Dates and Hours
- Camp dates are from June 27, 2022 - August 5, 2022
- Camp hours are from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm split between morning and afternoon shifts
Compensation
- Salary is $37 per hour. This includes payment for joining the director in curriculum planning and promotion throughout the school year
