POSITION OVERVIEW
New England Innovation Academy (NEIA) aspires to be the first choice for U.S. and international students seeking a highly innovative education, rooted in the skills necessary for long-term success worldwide. NEIA’s vision is to prepare the next generation of innovators to pursue their dreams and shape a better world.
NEIA opened its doors in September 2021, with 70 day and boarding students in grades 6 through 10. The goal is to double enrollment to 140+ students, for the 2022-2023 academic year and grow to a school of approximately 500 students from the US and across the world in grades 6-12 by the academic year 2025-26.
NEIA seeks a Head of Enrollment to join the school leadership team to build the classes and programs needed to fulfill its mission. This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative, experienced, entrepreneurial leader to join a team designing a new school. Reporting to the Head of School, the Head of Enrollment will lead the enrollment team which currently consists of Associate Director of Enrollment and Admissions Coordinators to design and implement recruitment, admission, and retention plans and policies. The Head of Enrollment will work closely with the Head of Collaboration, Director of Marketing, and the rest of the leadership team to develop an effective marketing plan to achieve enrollment goals.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic, entrepreneurial thinker who excels at collaborating with others to realize a vision, a creative planner who is also grounded in execution, and a team-builder who is eager to recruit, prepare, and support an outstanding team. Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Recruitment and Outreach
- Develops innovative, entrepreneurial, strategic recruitment and communication plans to reach international and domestic target audiences through online and offline channels.
- Develops a series of activities to promote the school long term with local families and organizations.
- Welcomes families and students to the school.
- Represents the Enrollment Office and School at events; coordinates on- and off-campus functions, including campus tours, information sessions, etc.
- Builds partnerships with local schools, corporations, and organizations to promote NEIA.
Admission and Enrollment Management
- Formulates forward-thinking, strategic application, admission, and enrollment policies.
- Partners with and informs the Board’s decisions around the setting of tuition.
- Recruits and retains students who will benefit from NEIA’s unique culture and programmatic offerings and contributes to the school community.
- Presents the school to prospective students and parents, which includes systematic and efficient handling of applications and communication with candidates and their parents; interviews with candidates and their parents; securing of necessary student credentials; and communicating final decisions to the appropriate individuals.
- Oversees the Admission Office, creation of the admissions budget, and appropriate admissions and marketing materials, mailings, and publications.
- Organizes and administers, with the Head of School, the Family Individualized Tuition process.
- Continually evaluates and redesigns where appropriate all aspects of the admissions and marketing program with the goal of maintaining a capacity enrollment of qualified students and a wait-list of qualified applicants for each grade.
- Oversees the network of parents to assist in the admissions program.
- Acts as the central point person for enrollment and re-enrollment from year to year.
- Tracks and shares enrollment and attrition data to inform data-driven decision-making at the Board and school leadership level.
- Identifies the characteristics and qualities of successful NEIA students.
- Partners with the leadership of the school to “hand over” student information to support students’ smooth transition into the school.
- Represents the school at various gatherings and conferences.
- Fosters high ethical standards, integrity, and respect for colleagues, community partners, parents, and students throughout the admissions process.
Community
- Acts as needed beyond the scope of the role to serve the immediate needs of the school or the Head of School.
- Serves as collegial, collaborative teammate to other senior leaders and a leader in the professional community.
- Participate enthusiastically in the life of the school
To perform other duties as assigned by the head of school.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- The Head of Enrollment supervises the employees and manages the work of the Enrollment and Admissions Team at NEIA which currently consists of the Associate Director of Enrollment and Admissions Coordinator.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s in Business Administration, Marketing, or closely related field preferred.
- 10 years of experience working in Admissions in the private/independent school or college educational settings required.
Qualifications
- Candidates should be creative, flexible, entrepreneurial, positive, culturally competent, warm, and possess a sense of humor.
- Dedicated to and experience working in a highly diverse school community and with students and families from all over the world.
- Significant experience with admissions in an international or US-based private school.
- Desire to collaborate as part of a strong administrative team.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with technology tools and ability to evaluate which tools will best serve the various needs and constituents (for example, to track data vs to invite inquiries or applications).
- Ability to exercise good judgment and maintain appropriate discretion
- Ability to employ a human-centered design process in designing and implementing enrollment and communications strategies.
