Founded in 1844, Wyoming Seminary is an independent, coeducational Toddler - PG school with campuses in Kingston and Forty-Fort, PA. The Upper School has a composition of about 40% boarding and 60% day students. Wyoming Seminary Upper School has an opening for a chemistry/biology teacher to start in August 2022. The ideal candidate must be a dynamic individual who possesses a willingness to work closely with departmental colleagues, participate in curriculum design, and be willing to teach a wide range of courses within the department. The successful candidate will join an experienced, dedicated faculty that is deeply committed to the entire student experience.
Responsibilities:
- Teach 4 biology and chemistry courses with labs
- Provide academic support to students outside of class time
- Serve as advisor for a small cohort of students
- Participate in department and faculty meetings
- Supervise or assist with two co- or extra-curricular activities
- Cover study halls, campus spaces, and other related duties
- Depending on experience and background, a Department Chair position may be considered
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology or a related field required, advanced degree preferred
- Secondary teaching or relevant experience preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administrators
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth
- Experience or interest in coaching sports, dorm parenting, and/or running student activities
- Proficiency with current educational technology and with a range of current pedagogical techniques
- Invested in positively and actively contributing to the school’s growth and development
