Imagination Lab School is an intentionally small TK-8 independent school serving Silicon Valley. With roots in progressive education and constructivism, we are a forward-thinking community of diverse student and adult learners with a shared commitment to equity, social justice, and sustainability.

Our teachers are our most precious resource! We empower and trust them to bring their passion, individual talents, and creativity to our team. We refer to our teachers as learning guides as they are curators of experiences, coaches who help students observe and reflect, facilitators who develop responsibility and agency, advocates who celebrate and challenge each student, and team players who engage with other guides, students, families, and external partners. Above all else, our learning guides are professional learners.

ILS is growing! As we head into our fifth year, we are seeking to grow our team. We are searching for two full-time Elementary Learning Guides. 

As a dynamic learner and leader in the ILS community you:

• Motivate, nurture, and challenge students by developing strong, supportive relationships with every child and their families
• Are committed to issues of equity, social justice and sustainability
• Have a purpose to inspire, guide and instill a love of learning and sense of confidence in your students
• Establish and maintain a creative, self-directed and collaborative learning environment
• Understand that each student is different, and you develop differentiated learning experiences and can assess and communicate the learning journey for each student
• Have experience with students from different cultures and with a wide range of learning needs
• Love to facilitate learning and build skills through hands on, real-life experiences
• Have a high level of self-motivation and follow-through, as well as the tenacity to persevere and the ability to improvise and create quickly and creatively.
• Thrive on using appropriate tools and resources to enrich the learning experience and to strengthen documentation, assessment, and communication
• Are a lifetime learner, committed to growing your practice in a dynamic and collaborative environment
• Partner with parents/guardians and members of the broader community to extend and enrich the learning experience
• Enjoy engaging with after school activities as well as leading and/or participating in community events

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Applicable experience in elementary education
• Understands the identity, development, and learning processes of elementary aged learners
• Skilled at establishing meaningful relationships with students and families as a critical foundation for student engagement and development

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, or Montessori methods
• Experience with authentic project-based learning and experiential education 
• Passion for and experience in the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Have talents and passions you love to share
