Position Summary
The school is seeking a positive and energetic physical education teacher to join us for the 2022-23 school year.
The PE teacher works with grades PK-5 approximately 10 hours per week and grades 9-12 approximately 4 hours a week. Exact days and times are determined once the hiring and the overall schedule are finalized. This position may be combined with other part-time opportunities available at the school such as Athletic Director, coaching, or teaching auxiliary program classes.
Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations for PE:
- Plan a program of study appropriate for the age, individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
- Use a variety of instructional methods and materials to fully engage students in the learning process, including supporting sensitive students who may require alternative activities in order to be successfully engaged
- Knowledge and application of the skill progression for many sports at many levels in a developmentally appropriate way
- Assess the accomplishments of students regularly and write reports of student progress
- Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning through positive management of classroom behavior
- Actively involve students in goal setting and the assessment process
- Take precautions to provide for health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities
- Organize class and division-wide athletic events, such as Recess Runners and Sports Day
- Perform others duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 2 years teaching elementary aged children
- Coaching or other PE teaching experience
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff
- Clean driving record and valid driver’s license

- Knowledge of common tech platforms used in education, such as Blackbaud, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, etc.
- Integrity, sound judgment, self-confidence, collaborative spirit, and a sense of humor
Physical Requirements
- Requires mobility to traverse campus to accompany and assure the safety of children. This may include moving between buildings multiple times throughout the workday and bending, squatting, stooping, and kneeling.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to consistently and clearly communicate with children, colleagues, and families.
