Blue School is expanding its Science and STEAM content and is currently seeking an experienced, highly creative and collaborative Science and Sustainability Teacher to start in July/August 2022. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, innovation, and passion for the sciences to the Blue School community. They will lead science instruction in multiple grades, from K-5th, and support teachers in integrating science across curriculum. They will work closely with the Director of Innovation and the Middle School science teaching team to support the advancement of Blue School’s vision for inquiry-based science education and sustainability initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Teach dedicated Science classes in multiple grades, from K-5th
- Plan collaboratively with classroom teachers to develop science lessons and integrate science across the curriculum
- Build upon and adapt existing science curriculum
- Develop new responsive curriculum as appropriate
- Work closely with the Middle School science teaching team to ensure continuity, collaborate on school-wide projects, and enhance science curriculum
- Help develop and expand school sustainability programs such as composting, recycling and gardening
- Support classroom teachers in planning and executing year-long service learning projects

Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in science education, elementary education, or environmental education
- At least three years of full-time or part-time K-5 science teaching experience
- Science content background and commitment to an inquiry-based model of science education
