Grammar School Spanish Teacher
The Grammar School Spanish Teacher holds primary responsibility for the implementation and development of the Grammar School Spanish curriculum and the success of its students. The Grammar School Spanish Teacher is committed to continuously improving curriculum and instruction through collaboration as part of a content area team. The Grammar School Spanish Teacher motivates students to develop the necessary skills for language acquisition and appreciation for culture by providing rich, instructional experiences as a foundation for the introduction of the Spanish language.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s degree in Spanish/Education is desired
- Minimum of 3 years full time teaching experience, preferably in elementary education and/or in Spanish
- Valid State Certification is helpful
Responsibilities
- Conduct classes exclusively in Spanish using the Spanish immersion model;
- Teach in differentiated learning settings, including whole class, push-in, co-teaching with another Spanish Teacher, and in small groups;
- Create unit plans that reflect sequential learning with differentiated activities based on students’ knowledge and skills;
- Use department guidelines to assess and evaluate students throughout the year, maintaining records and writing report cards accordingly;
- Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices;
- Develop and document pre-kindergarten to fourth grade Spanish curriculum;
- Collaborate positively and respectfully with all members of the Grammar School community, including colleagues, school administrators and parents;
- Coordinate with the school faculty, families, and outside support specialists to best support student growth;
- Maintain consistent close communication with families about each child’s progress;
- Engage in professional development opportunities presented by school and also seek out development from reputable outside organizations;
School Hours
- 2022-2023 School Year: 7:45am to 3:30pm Monday-Friday
- Weekly after school faculty meetings until 4:15

Preferred Skills and Experience
- Fluent written and spoken Spanish and ability to teach native Spanish speakers
- Previous teaching experience, and strong knowledge of developing a Spanish curriculum that will meet the needs of individual students
- Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom
- Ability to communicate effectively and establish rapport with parents
- Strong management and organizational skills
