Greene Street Friends School is seeking a dynamic and visionary 6th Grade Lead Teacher, for the 2022-2023 school year.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, exemplified in their instructional practice and in the cultivation of impactful relationships with students, families/caregivers, and colleagues. Through a set of holistic and innovative instructional practices, they will adapt their teaching to fit the needs of their students. Moreover, they will have sound pedagogical skills, highly developed writing and organizational skills, and a student-centered approach to teaching, inspiring their students to think creatively and critically. They will teach the core curriculum of math, language arts, and social studies, as well as act as a homeroom teacher. Other duties include advising a group of students, writing student reports, effectively communicating and collaborating with students, colleagues, and families, attending meetings, and fulfilling other faculty duties such as recess and lunch supervision.
This position begins in August 2022.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Adapting teaching to fit the needs of students through holistic and innovative instructional practices
- Demonstrating a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Collaborating with colleagues on lesson and unit design
- Communicating and collaborating effectively with students, colleagues, and families
- Supporting students' social and emotional skills and growth
- Creating a positive and healthy classroom climate
- Prioritizing the safety of students at all times
Other duties include:
- Communicating with parents and caregivers in emails and phone calls to support each student
- Preparing for and leading three parent/caregiver conferences each year
- Writing student reports with narratives and checklists
- Attending weekly faculty meetings and serving on school renewal committees
- Supervising students during break, lunch and recess times according to a rotating schedule
