Greene Street Friends School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered candidate, to lead our learning community towards effective, practical, and creative ways to incorporate library resources into our academic program, in a way that furthers our mission, meets the needs of our learners, and builds enthusiasm for and competence with media, library, and technology resources. The successful candidate will lead library classes for PreK-4th grade students, facilitate drop-in library hours, manage library inventory, and coordinate instructional school-wide technology.
Main Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Attend meetings, proctor recess and lunch duties according to a rotational schedule.
- Manage and maintain our school library & instructional technology resources.
- Support teachers in using library resources to promote student learning.
- Work with outside service providers to support our student software.
- Supervising and ensuring the safety of students at all times.
- Supporting student's social and emotional skills and growth.
- Through a set of holistic and innovative instructional practices, they will adapt their teaching to fit the needs of their students.
- Complete other tasks and responsibilities as determined by supervisor.
Specific Duties:
- Provide or arrange for professional development for teachers on how to utilize library resources to further their instructional goals.
- Meet with teachers to learn about their programs, share ways to integrate library resources into those programs and plan specific research based and literature-based projects.
- Oversee schedule and use of the library.
- Conduct an annual Book Fair to create excitement about reading and raise funds for the school.
- Maintain the library as a clean, welcoming place that invites student learning.
- Coordinate purchases for, organization of and student use of the library.
- Maintain and update the Library collection and automation system.
- Fulfill additional school-wide duties at the direction of the Associate Head of School.
- Maintain licenses for student software and support teachers with integrating into their classroom (PebbleGo, IXL, SeeSaw, PearDeck, Read and Write, plus additional as needed).
- Support IT Director with student devices as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Possess sound pedagogical skills.
- Strong writing and organizational skills.
A bachelor's degree in a related educational field is required; Advanced degree is preferred but not required.
