We seek to hire the best teachers, administrators, and staff members to support our amazing student body by offering a competitive benefits package and providing a wonderful working environment.
St. Anne's-Belfield School seeks a full-time Humanities teacher to join a highly collaborative department. In Grade 9, English and ancient world history are taught separately but designed collaboratively. In Grades 10 and 11, Humanities 10 and American studies classes are taught in an integrated, dual-credit class. At the 10th grade level, the Advanced Placement Human Geography class forms a part of the core Humanities experience. As an institution, St. Anne's-Belfield encourages risk-taking and creativity, creates and sustains a culture of pleasure reading, and integrates empathy, awareness and respect for differences in every classroom and course in explicit ways. A successful teacher in this position has the capacity to foster in students an enthusiasm for the exploration of ideas and concepts in a student-centered classroom. This role relies on someone who embraces lifelong learning and collaborates effectively with fellow teachers, members of the Humanities department and the upper school faculty as a whole.
As an independent school, we value community involvement and expect that the selected candidate will serve as an advisor and also coach or engage in extracurricular programming that is equivalent to one season.
Full-time classroom teaching experience, both online and in-person, strong organizational and classroom management skills, and the ability to joyfully teach upper school children are required. Ideal candidates will have experience teaching high school-aged students in a standards-based learning environment (SBL) and hold a master's degree in English or History. Experience with teaching the AP Human Geography class is a bonus.
