Greenwich Country Day School is an independent, co-educational day school with a current enrollment of 1375 students in grades N-12, and a faculty and staff of over 350. The original Old Church Road campus is home to grades N-8. The new High School, established in 2019, is located less than two miles away on the Stanwich Road campus. Greenwich Country Day School seeks a Development Associate to start August 2022. Reporting to both the Director of Alumni Relations and Director of Advancement is an essential member of the Advancement team. This newly added position will support the development and coordination of comprehensive programs to engage, involve, solicit, and steward GCDS’ network of 4000+ alumni as well as parents of alumni. The Development Associate will help develop marketing and branding strategies that will meaningfully foster and sustain lifelong connections. The successful candidate will be a results-oriented, strategic thinker and effective communicator, who is able to nimbly interact with many volunteers, is adept at developing and managing multiple work streams, and has a proven track record of leading meetings and managing events. This is a full-time, 12-month/year position.
Responsibilities Include
- Support the Director of Alumni Relations to develop and enhance strong relationships with alumni to help advance the mission of GCDS by fostering engagement between alumni, parents of alumni, students, faculty, and staff
- Provide staffing support to the Alumni Advisory Council, the governing body of GCDS’ Alumnae Association
- Work closely with the Director of Alumni Relations to develop content and expand communication initiatives via social media, school magazine, giving reports, invitations, quarterly online newsletter, and website
- Assist with the development of an annual communications plan, budget, and calendar of alumni events and programs
- Help coordinate annual Reunion celebration and class giving; with a goal of measurably increasing alumni participation
- Meet regularly with students (e.g., Student Alumni Club) to involve them in Alumni Council activities and events to cultivate involvement beyond graduation
- Collaborate with the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion to build and sustain strong connections with all members of our diverse alumni community
- Field alum inquiries and communications in a timely manner
- Maintain regular and productive communication with Alumni Board Chair and internal GCDS departments (Business Office, Technology, Food Services, Facilities) to streamline execution of alum events and development operations
- Participate in planning and implementation of annual stewardship events, including Leadership Reception, New Families Welcome Reception, Grandparents Day, Alumni Weekend, and high level donor cultivation/recognition events.
- Support efforts to steward the school’s endowed funds and ensure that all donors are properly acknowledged and kept informed on the status and impact of individual funds
- Other tasks as required and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of five (5) years of fundraising, event management, marketing, communications and/or related experience
- Meaningful experience strategically developing and launching social media content to support marketing, branding, and engagement efforts
- Demonstrated success in event management
- Knowledge of best practices in developing and implementing new engagement programs and familiarity with principles and practices of Annual Giving
- Proven track record of leading collaborative efforts
- History of successful project management including budget management
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- High level of comfort and ability with public speaking and preparing and delivering presentations
- Strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to work with tact and diplomacy and maintain confidentiality
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and a demonstrated aptitude for setting priorities and meeting deadlines
- Experience working within a diverse community
- Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
- Cultural competency skills to successfully collaborate across difference and the desire to be an engaged member of an inclusive educational community
- Sense of humor and a positive “can do” attitude is a must!
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge
- Experience working specifically with alumni constituencies a plus
- Prior experience in a similar role in the education space
