Good Shepherd Episcopal School seeks a collaborative individual to teach, enrich, and reinforce the Pre-Kindergarten curriculum while caring for the whole child. The PreK Associate Teacher will work with the PreK team to plan, supervise, and implement the program for the early childhood class in accordance with the policies, curriculum, and philosophy of the school to treat each child with dignity and respect. The PreK Associate will develop and implement the “centers” curriculum along with the PreK team and manage the “centers” space for all PreK students. The PreK Associate will provide not only for each child’s academic needs but also help develop social and emotional maturity. In addition, the PreK Associate will work with the current teaching team to maintain an orderly classroom, support classroom teachers and instruction, and revise and update the curriculum as necessary.
The Pre-Kindergarten Associate Teacher will attend all required meetings and public-relations events and participate on school committees and in extra-curricular activities, as required. He or she will uphold and support the mission of the Episcopal Church and the school, meet all teacher expectations and duties as outlined in the Employee Manual, and collaborate with colleagues while maintaining a positive team attitude.
The ideal candidate is a strong, dedicated professional with an astute understanding of child development and how young children learn. The preferred qualifications for the ideal candidate are as follows:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college/university
- Experience as a lead/homeroom teacher in early childhood education
- Strength in literacy and phonics instruction
- Ability to differentiate curriculum for students with varying learning styles
- Competency in technology
- Experience in integrating curriculum and various assessment tools
- Willingness to work in a collaborative, team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
