Supervisor: Head of the Upper School
Position Status: This position is a salaried, exempt, full-time, regular, 10-month position.
QUALIFICATIONS
- B.A. in Biological Science or related field. Professional or practical experience in a scientific field and advanced degree preferred
- Two or more years of science teaching experience preferred
OPPORTUNITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach 3 sections of Biology classes with labs. The ability to cross-over into other scientific disciplines such as Environmental Science, Chemistry or Physics preferred.
- Co-teach a 3-week immersive, interdisciplinary class during Jan Term
- Work directly with other Upper School Science teachers as part of a Science PLC
- Advise students as part of the Upper School Advisory Program
- Contribute to the larger school community through sponsoring extracurricular programs, clubs and/or coaching sports.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may frequently walk on slippery or uneven surfaces. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local during the regular business day. Overnight and out-of-area travel may also be required.
