Our Preprimary, Primary, and Kindergarten classrooms will be co-taught by two lead teachers with the support and assistance of an Associate Teacher -Spanish Language classroom assistant; guiding and supporting students’ language development, under the supervision of the Director of Spanish Studies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with co-teachers to plan instruction and classroom activities.
- Assist with and support emergent curriculum and project based learning (PBL) approaches.
- Collaborate with co-teachers to deliver a bilingual classroom experience, ensuring that learning standards are met, while maintaining and managing a positive learning environment.
- Support in the development of early language acquisition skills; working across content areas, exposing students to a variety of concepts.
- Along with the Director of Spanish Studies, help to develop Spanish language materials and resources for all areas of the classroom.
- Help to maintain records of student progress; tracking mastery within the sequence of the ACTFL continuum.
- Participate in professional development sessions, trainings, and conferences to ensure continued education and professional growth.
- Participate in parent conferences and meetings throughout the school year, communicating with parents in accordance with school policies.
- Assist with playground supervision and carpool duties, as needed.
Qualifications
- Possess 2-5 years of experience in support of early childhood learning, working in Early Childhood programs in dual-language education with a demonstrated ability to work in a bilingual environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Elementary, or equivalent from an accredited university.
- Spanish/English native speaker or native level proficiency desired
