Working with the head of school and department head for grades 7-12, the ideal
fine arts teacher for Selwyn School will expand students’ fine arts understanding,
appreciation, and personal creativity in an engaging variety of artistic expression
and media.
This may become a part-time role of about 25-30 hours per week. We will discuss
details with successful candidates.

Education, Experience, Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will:
• Hold a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in fine arts or a related field
from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Have a prepared portfolio showcasing candidate talents in multiple fine
arts disciplines (e.g. painting, sculpture, ink, graphic arts, photography).
• Be skilled in the Adobe portfolio of products including Illustrator,
Photoshop or similar software.
• Have at least 3 years classroom experience, ideally in an independent
school
• Be capable of designing lessons for grade 7-12 students and teaching these
lessons.
• Partner with other teachers and staff regularly, helping to vertically align
curriculum across grades.
• Have the ability to tailor an innovative, engaging approach to the
particular needs of a class or student.
• Teach children enrolled in our fine arts program in line with program
goals.
• Evaluate student performance, social development, behavior, health and
intellectual growth, reporting on these as required through school-defined
systems and processes (e.g. RenWeb). Planning and conducting parentteacher
conferences during designated periods and as needed.
• Effectively and regularly communicate with students, families and school
administration.
• Lead the development of the annual school yearbook.
• Establish clear objectives for students appropriate for your grade level and
provide the tools and lessons to attain them.
• Attend all mandatory faculty meetings and other school and community
events, monitoring our published calendar.
• Knowledge of student and faculty handbooks and other school rules, and
enforcement within school guidelines.
• Have a clear understanding of our school mission and values, and use
these as the foundation for all planning, education and activity.
• Have unimpeachable ethics, honesty, respect for all and a deep desire to
work on behalf of students and the people who serve them.
• Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as required by school leadership.

and fine arts skills to their fullest potential.
• Establish clear objectives for students and provide the tools and lessons to
attain them.
• Serve as a leader and role model, exhibiting the character, understanding,
demeanor, resilience and leadership expected of all professionals at our
school.
• Work on an Apple-centric IT platform.
• Comply with all staff, state and school requirements, including the Faculty
and Staff Handbook.
• Represent Selwyn School, on and off campus, exhibiting professionalism,
ethical behavior and respect.
• Maintain all records as required by the school and governmental licensing
bureaus.
• Proactively engage in self-researched professional development each year
to improve effectiveness.
Other Qualifications:
All prospective employees must be able to clear a background and drivers license
check and other employee screening as required.
