Summary
Hathaway Brown School seeks a full-time Upper School (9-12) Visual Arts Teacher. Responsibilities include a full-time teaching load requiring expertise and knowledge in teaching drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, design, and other traditional visual arts media. This teacher will also be responsible for being a mentor (adviser) to a group of approximately 10 students, helping to guide them through their high school academic experience.
Applicants should hold a minimum of a BA or BFA in Visual Arts or Arts Education, and experience teaching at the high school level. The school also considers being a practicing artist as an asset in the application process. Skills in teaching digital media applications would also be considered an asset.
Responsibilities include:

Teach a full load of classes, including Studio Art Survey, a foundation introductory course to high school visuals arts in a variety of media, other advanced studio/visual art courses as needed for 10th, 11th and 12th grade students.

Be a Mentor (Adviser) to approximately 10 students at one grade level, working with students and parents in an academic and personal advisory role, including helping students to manage their academic lives, course selection, and parent conferences.

Be an active member of the faculty, including serving on faculty committees, attending faculty meetings and in-service days, being an active member of the Visual Arts Department, and the faculty as a whole.

Use technology to support curriculum and administrative responsibilities.

Maintain art studio, help to manage a budget and order materials and supplies.

Continue to develop your own knowledge and skills through personal and professional growth.

Language Skills
