Career Center

Lynnhaven School has 60 students in grades 8-12. The average class size is 6-8 students. This is a collaborative and friendly work environment. 

Responsibilities 

• Develop and implement plans for the curriculum program assigned and show written evidence of preparation as required.
• Prepare lessons that reflect accommodation for individual student differences.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional/learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflects accommodation for individual
  needs of students assigned.
• Use technologies in the teaching/learning process.
• Consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal testing.
• Present a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents.
• Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
• Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
• Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on committees as required.
• Any other assignment deemed appropriate by the building principal.

• Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
• Must be able to occasionally lift items weighing up to 50lbs
• Frequently required to talk and listen
• Must be able to regularly use repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on the computer and/or related office equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in mathematics from an accredited university
• Valid teaching certificate preferred, but not required
• Experience teaching all math courses (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Real World Statistics)
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
• Strong communications, public relations, and interpersonal skills
