Time: Beginning July, 1 2022
Responsibilities:
- Supporting Daycroft’s toddler, preschool and Y5/Kindergarten teachers (Pre-primary and Primary).
- Oversees Early Childhood licensing
- Work with the Head Teacher to assess the material needs of each classroom and facilitate the purchasing and distribution of materials, staying within budget guidelines.
- Observe classrooms regularly to facilitate the implementation of curriculum and professional development for Head Teachers and Associates.
- Ensures culturally responsive classroom guidelines and DEI goals are met
- Mentor Associate Teachers and help non-Montessori trained teachers get their Montessori certification.
- Help seek and set-up professional development programs that are appropriate for our teachers in the primary and pre-primary programs.
- Create yearly goals and evaluations of all toddler, preschool and Y5/Kindergarten teachers.
- Support the implementation of Transparent Classroom in each classroom
- Work with each classroom to support our diverse student and family population. Help make connections across the school to celebrate the richness of our diverse heritages. Support the implementation of our Polyanna racial literacy program.
- Participate in weekly administrative meetings to update the administrative team on the progress and needs of the toddler and primary program.
- Organize and support quarterly parent education sessions on the Montessori philosophy of education and how parents can support their children at home.
- Help the Head of School with the implementation of the school’s strategic plan
- Support students with developmental needs. Act as liaison between classroom, learning specialist, and home.
- Coordinating classroom schedules for co-curricular classes, recess and gym time.
- Find substitutes when needed in the classrooms or fill in as needed in the classroom.
- Partner with admissions on evaluating potential students, help with enrollment, and retention from preschool to Y5/Kindergarten program.
- Partner with marketing to highlight Daycroft’s early childhood program. Attend local early childhood director meetings/calls.
- Partner with our Auxillary director to help find before and aftercare help along with finding camp counselors in the summer for the toddler, preschool and kindergarten programs.
- Partner with the Elementary director to ensure alignment throughout the school.
- Coordinate with surrounding primary and pre-primary Montessori schools to establish Montessori workshops that are beneficial to all programs.
- Visit other high-functioning Montessori programs and share best practices between schools.
- AMS or AMI 3-6 Certification
- At least 6 years of Montessori teaching experience
- Individuals must have strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Previous Montessori leadership experience preferred.
