The Director of Enrollment Management is a top-level administrative position, reporting directly to the Head of School. The Director of Enrollment Management will serve as a member of the Head of School's Advisory Council and as liaison to the Trustees' Admissions and Marketing Committee. The primary function of the Director of Enrollment Management will be to achieve the goals of the Board-approved enrollment strategy, oversee admissions activities, manage the admissions and marketing team, and lead initiatives to shape the Academy's efforts to increase visibility, presence, and name recognition in Maine as well as at the regional, national, and international level. Primary focus will be on areas related directly and indirectly to recruitment, marketing, admissions/enrollment, and retention. The Director Enrollment Management oversees the Academy's financial aid strategy, which includes the long-term goal of reducing the school's discount rate.
The Director of Enrollment Management will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing a school-wide marketing plan consisting of several integrated campus marketing action plans. The marketing plans will be consistent with the goals of the Board of Trustees' strategic planning efforts. The Director of Enrollment Management will also be responsible for developing and managing the budgets for the marketing and admissions departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruitment/Admissions/Promotion (50%):
Oversee all aspects of the admissions office to ensure the achievement of enrollment goals. Manage the coordination of communication sequence to inquiries, applicants and enrollees. Plan and oversee coordination of direct mailings, travel schedule, promotional events on and off campus (i.e. open houses, school fairs, consultants tours), and other recruitment strategies to raise awareness of Hebron Academy. Organize the admission and financial aid committee. Plan and oversee coordination of the admission process for each division.
Marketing/Advertising/Publications (40%):
Implement and manage an annual advertising campaign including newspapers, magazines, guidebooks, radio, and other media. Oversee the design, placement, and frequency of insertion of advertisements to effectively reach admission goals. Prepare, copy, secure photos, and work the Communications Manager and or advertising agency on layout and final. Track response to evaluate Return on Investment.
Coordinate with Communications Manager and/or outside vendors on creation, editing, graphic design, and distribution of the Hebron Academy admissions publications (print and electronic). Particular focus given to areas related to recruitment, enrollment and retention (viewbooks, catalogs, brochures, applications, newsletters, website, and all other correspondence to prospective and current students and their families). Also, coordinate the efforts of professional photographers, writers, designers, and printers.
Research (10%):
Design, distribute, and compile data from surveys. Analyze the anecdotal information from internal and external marketing research interviews to design a cohesive communications platform, from which all admissions and marketing materials will be developed. Also, analyze the statistical data from surveys and the admissions database to determine target markets and trends, set admission goals, and track/evaluate effectiveness of advertising, direct mail, travel, and other marketing efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in education, or related field, Master's degree may be preferred.
- 10 years of experience in admissions in an educational setting, international experience may be preferred.
- Understanding of statistics, admissions requirements and procedures, school funding, and financial aid application processes.
- Experience with graphic and movie design.
- Experience with both Finalsite and Blackbaud platforms.
- Ability to analyze and interpret information.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, networking, and verbal and written communication skills. Foreign languages skills and comprehension preferred.
- Some sales and marketing skills may prove beneficial.
