Greenwich Country Day School (GCDS) is an independent, co-educational day school with current enrollment of 1375 students in grades N-12, and a faculty and staff of 350+. The original Old Church Road campus is home to grades N-8. The new Upper School (9-12,) established in 2019, is located less than two miles away on Stanwich Road campus. Greenwich Country Day School seeks a Director of Recruiting and Talent, to start July 2022. The Director will lead all aspects of GCDS’ efforts to attract and recruit best-in-class talent to join the school’s workforce. This is a 12-month/year, full-time position. Occasional evening and weekend commitments are expected as well as some travel.

Responsibilities Include:
- Manage all aspects of the talent acquisition process to successfully recruit top candidates and meet established objectives
- Work collaboratively with Division Heads and Department Heads to understand staffing needs and create job postings and descriptions
- Post jobs internally and externally
- Coordinate use of educational search firms and temporary staffing companies when appropriate
- Oversee highly professional, rigorous, and extensive interview process including determination of hiring committees, screening of candidates, coordination and hosting of on-campus interview days
- Cultivate productive applicant pipelines to generate qualified and diverse candidate pools for all areas of the school
- Coordinate with Head of School’s office to complete offer and contract process for successful faculty/administrative candidates
- Coordinate with Director of Employee Relations to complete offer process for successful staff candidates
- Coordinate with the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) to assure that the recruiting process advances the school’s goal of attracting and retaining a diverse and inclusive workforce.
- Work closely with DEI leadership to design/implement equitable recruiting practices.
- Assure professional and timely communication between the school and job applicants
- Manage reimbursement of candidate expenses for those who visit campus
- Work throughout the school to assure that all involved in hiring are deploying best-practice recruiting and interviewing techniques
- Travel as needed to attend appropriate recruiting events
- Develop expertise in JazzHR to ensure optimal data collection and reporting capabilities and train others in use of the platform
- Manage use and selection of recruiting and candidate management tools
- Provide new hire orientation support
- With the Director of Employee Relations, plan and execute onboarding and orientation process
- Perform reference checks for successful candidates
- Facilitate background checks, van licensing and other aspects of employee qualifications
- Facilitate background checks and onboarding of adjunct coaches, tutors, and substitutes and confirm availability with appropriate departments and divisions
- Assist with exit interviews
- Assist with co-teacher assignments
- Understand and support the mission of the school
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree; preferably in a related area of study
- 5+ years of successful experience in a similar role; preferably in an educational setting
- Knowledge of all aspects of the HR function
- High level understanding of and commitment to remain current with employment law, along with the ability to educate others, as needed, to ensure that the school is in compliance with all applicable state and federal statutes and guidelines
- High level understanding of the primary importance of school culture combined with the willingness and ability to collaborate on cultivation of and ongoing support and facilitation of culture
- Demonstrated track record of supporting all aspects of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and a sincere commitment to fostering continued growth in that area
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development in employment law
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills and public speaking ability
- Commitment to high level of integrity and confidentiality in all aspects of the role
- High-level time management and organizational skills and a strong work ethic
- A team-oriented approach to all aspects of the recruiting process
- Personal traits appropriate for successful recruitment; must be energetic, creative, flexible, patient, and have an inexhaustible sense of humor
