Germantown Academy, located in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, is seeking qualified, experienced candidates for the full-time position of Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing, beginning as soon as possible. This is a 12-month position which offers an excellent array of benefits and a highly competitive salary. The Academy, founded in 1759, is a non-sectarian, coeducational, college preparatory school of more than 1,200 students in Grades PK-12, located in the northwest suburbs of Philadelphia on a campus of 126 acres.

Position Purpose: The Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing reports to the Director of Communications and Marketing and serves as a team member in the Germantown Academy Office of Institutional Advancement. This position will assist in coordinating the communications and marketing efforts of the school, with an emphasis on fundraising, through a variety of mediums, including web, print, electronic news, and social networking services, to help advance the school’s mission. This position does not qualify for tuition remission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support for the school’s social media marketing presence for all GA constituents
- Serve as a communications liaison, along with Director, for public events hosted by the school
- Create content and scheduling strategy of feature stories and school blog for GA website
- Design and implement online strategy for school fundraising that includes creation of video, ads, first person interviews, new initiatives, etc.
- Serve as project manager for annual giving solicitations that will include writing, graphic design, and video
- Design video projects for all-school promotions and fundraising campaigns
- Provide writing support for a variety of communications vehicles, including but not limited to, web, school magazine, educational publications, Annual Fund pieces, etc
- Coordinate the development of new web and social media initiatives for turning constituents into donors
- Support parent fundraising efforts for the school through event planning, backend database work, and volunteer management
- Assist with photography needs for the school that include photographing subjects or events for daily web features, alumni events, and annual giving pieces
- Catalog and maintain photo files (hard copy and electronic)
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications and Marketing and the Director of Advancement and Strategic Initiatives
Qualifications:
- Experience and comfort level with Microsoft platforms, email software, database software, and design software - Quark, InDesign, Canva, Photoshop, FinalCut Pro, etc.
- Degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or journalism with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience preferred
- Ability to foster and maintain relationships with media outlets with the intent of gaining publicity for the school
- Strong writing, editing, and interviewing skills
- Self-starter
- Understanding of photo and video editing software
- Experience in writing for and editing CMS web sites
- Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, independently and collaboratively
- Detail-oriented with sensitivity to deadlines and priorities
- Ability and enthusiasm to work evenings and weekends when necessary
