Annual Fund Manager & Alumni Outreach
Shattuck-St. Mary’s, a private boarding school in Faribault, Minnesota is seeking an outgoing individual to fill the Annual Fund Manager & Alumni Outreach position. The Annual Fund Manager is responsible for managing and growing a comprehensive and strategic annual giving program of approximately two million dollars. Working closely with the Director of Institutional Advancement, this person will develop and implement efficient and effective cultivation and stewardship strategies for all constituencies, oversee volunteers, manage a portfolio of donors, plan and support events as needed, and facilitate direct mail and online campaigns. This position will report to the Director of Institutional Advancement.
Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Direct the development and production of Annual Fund materials (in coordination with our marketing and communications department) for print, digital and social media channels.
- Work with our “Friends of” Center of Excellence programs to help develop and implement campaigns.
- Develop and implement a plan for increased Annual Fund support and participation rates across all constituencies including current parents, alumni, past parents, friends and more.
- Use prospect research to determine appropriate targets and solicitation for individuals.
- Produce relative Annual Fund content for school-wide and external publications.
- Help plan and execute cultivation and stewardship events for donors and volunteers.
- Oversee timely processing and acknowledgement of Annual Fund gifts.
- Assist the office as needed to support the Alumni Board, Parents Association, and Foundation Board
- Assist with our online auctions and off-campus events
- Produce internal progress reports to evaluate overall success of the Annual Fund against benchmarks and develop strategies to increase effectiveness.
- Keep current with best practices, innovative developments, and trends in the annual giving fields with focus on independent boarding schools.
- Help with alumni outreach and engagement including phone calls, emails, and social media campaigns.
- Foster connection between other offices within the school to identify outreach opportunities.
- Weekend travel may be required and/or residential life duty, typical in a boarding school may be required.

- History of cooperating with teams and co-workers
- Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn technology platforms to support various projects
- Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; strong attention to detail, ability to interact effectively with people.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
- Proven skills at conceptualizing, drafting, and editing annual fund appeals.
- Volunteer management and personal gift solicitation
- Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to multitask and have exceptional writing and interpersonal skills.
- Possess a demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Must be flexible as evening events and some weekend events are required.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and a knowledge of Raisers Edge is a plus
- Bachelor’s Degree and two years of relative development experience
- Experience with social media and multimedia
- Experience with InDesign a plus
