Upper School Long Term Substitute Visual Art Teacher
Founded in 1930, The Tatnall School is an independent, coeducational, college-preparatory day school situated on a pastoral, 110-acre campus in Greenville, Delaware, near Wilmington. Tatnall includes four academic divisions with 510 students from age 3 through grade 12. Tatnall is seeking an Upper School Visual Arts teacher to take the reins of an exceptional Art program for Term 1, beginning in late August and extending to the middle of November, while the US Visual Arts teacher is on maternity leave. The teacher will report to the Head of Upper School, participate in the art department meetings, and collaborate with all Middle and Upper School teachers. The Tatnall Visual Arts program is a dynamic program and an integral part of our curriculum. We are seeking an innovative and caring educator to continue to grow and develop this flourishing program.
Responsibilities
- Teach Upper School Visual Arts Courses
? Two Sections: Foundation of Art & Design
? One Section of Painting (Watercolor, Gouache, and Acrylic)
? Junior Portfolio
? AP Art & Design (2D, 3D, and Drawing)
- Follow provided art curriculum, adapt when need
- Work collaboratively with other teachers
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite Programs: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign ? Plan and instruct 4 to 5 classes per day
- Maintain art studio materials and ensure safety precautions are followed by students ? Communicate with Department Chair about additional supplies that may be needed
- Communicate student progress clearly and effectively to students, parents, and faculty, through emails, meetings, and formal student reports
- Stage student art exhibits; help coordinate the following exhibition:
? Fall MS/US Exhibition
- Report to the Chair of Art Department
- Help students submit artwork to fall contests and exhibitions
Qualifications:
- B.A. in an art content area required. Masters's degree is preferred.
- Experience teaching art, preferably in an upper school program.
