Director of Rowing
Greenwich Academy is seeking a Director of Rowing. The qualified candidate will have experience as a rower or coxswain as well as proven success as a coach at the club, interscholastic, or collegiate level. The director is responsible for creating, implementing and evaluating a year-round program focused on the development of student-athletes. A successful candidate will work cooperatively and collegially with Greenwich Academy’s brother school with which the school shares a boathouse. The ability to contribute in other areas of school life will be strongly considered. Additionally, the candidate is expected to do the following:
- Report to the director of athletics
- Run Middle and Upper School program
- Develop a Greenwich Academy rowing manual inclusive of a detailed, periodized training plan with teaching progressions and terminology for both the novice and advanced rower
- Evaluate, record and communicate with students regarding their rowing progress
- Identify student-athletes who have the potential to row at the next level, working in coordination with the School’s college office while communicating with families as appropriate
- Mentor, supervise and evaluate coaches within the program
- Oversee safety policies and procedures for rowing – coaches and athletes
- Organize a training and regatta schedule
- Secure necessary travel arrangements
- Manage and inventory all equipment
- Schedule and arrange maintenance of launches and engines
- Drive crew trailer and recommend maintenance as needed
- Oversee rowing budget in conjunction with the director of athletics
