Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Lower School Science Teacher to inspire and guide the learning of Kindergarten to Grade Four students in science. The successful candidate will possess excellent content knowledge; a passion for teaching and learning; creativity and a thirst for innovation; enthusiasm for working with students, families, and colleagues; a growth mindset; and a sense of humor. She, he, or they will be able to inspire and empower students to learn; collaborate and engage in daily conversation and experiences with students and colleagues; write well; and commit to ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Teaching:
- Teach science to students in Kindergarten to Grade Four.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners in science.
- Regularly update science curriculum to reflect school priorities; the school’s values of diversity, equity, and social justice; a commitment to sustainability; and 21st century skills.
- Work with Science Department to ensure curricular alignment with other divisions.
- Collaborate with homeroom teachers and other specialists to promote cross-curricular integration, especially as it relates to STEAM.
- Manage and facilitate the care of the Lower School student garden with homeroom teachers.
- Lead Lower School sustainability efforts to reduce our environmental impact and address pollution and climate change.
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching plans accordingly.
- Share student skills development with families through well-crafted reports.
- Maintain strong communication with families and all relevant stakeholders through appropriate records/documentation, notes and emails, and in-person discussions.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in a positive school culture through shared duties, faculty meeting discussions, special events, committees, club leadership, and professional development.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in science education, elementary education, or related field required; Master’s preferred
Experience: 3 years teaching elementary-aged students
Specific Skills: Familiarity with Google Classroom and other Google Suite products preferred
