Archer is a young, innovative school that supports and challenges young women to discover their passions and realize their possibilities. Serving 510 girls in grades 6-12, Archer’s joyful and ambitious program is founded on the latest research around how girls learn and thrive. Beyond competitive pay and benefits, faculty enjoy working in a highly collegial, student-focused, and joyful learning community.
Archer is currently seeking experienced Science teachers with pedagogical skill, strong content knowledge, facility in using educational technology, and commitment to ongoing professional development in any of the following areas:
- Physics
- Biology/Life Science
- Scientific Research
Archer’s science program is “physics first,” so all 9th graders take Conceptual Physics as the intellectual foundation to studying Chemistry and Molecular Biology in 10th and 11th grades. The curriculum is scaffolded to develop students’ ability to think like scientists through inquiry-based labs and activities.
Archer offers a collaborative learning community with high quality, ongoing professional development. Integral to its mission, we remain passionately committed to cultivating a diverse and inclusive faculty and student body where all community members can thrive. Faculty teach 4-5 sections, serve as a grade-level mentor, and participate in co-curricular school activities like Archer’s Annual Student STEM Symposium, experiential trips, and our student science research program.
A Bachelor in Science is necessary; a master’s degree is preferred. Candidates should have at least three years experience teaching with a successful track record of collaboration and curricular design experience. We welcome faculty with diverse perspectives and experiences, who possess a passion for inspiring young people to remain curious and persevere in STEM-related creative problem solving and scientific inquiry.
