St. Martin’s Episcopal School is seeking out candidates to fill the position of Varsity Head Volleyball Coach/Volleyball Program Director and full time physical education teacher. St. Martin’s is a member of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association and adheres to all of their rules and bylaws. The Varsity Head Volleyball Coach/Program Director will be responsible for planning and running all day-to-day practices as well as creating line-ups and coaching during interscholastic competition. The Varsity Head Volleyball Coach/Program Director will conduct all communications with athletes, parents, administration and officials. The Varsity Head Volleyball Coach/Program Director will travel with the team to away competition and assist with the setup and takedown of the volleyball equipment for home games and practices. The Varsity Head Volleyball Coach/Program Director will begin practices the week of August 7, 2022.
St. Martin’s Episcopal School is seeking a Physical Education teacher, responsible for fostering and nurturing the intellectual, physical, social, ethical, and leadership development of their students. Ideal candidates will have the flexibility to teach in grades K-12. Candidates should possess strong ethical principles and communication skills. Candidates must also be qualified to coach at least one varsity program and willing to lead or assist in one or two additional seasons at the middle or high school levels.
Responsibilities beyond the classroom can include service on committees and possible involvement in club sponsorships.
Responsibilities:
- Teachers will be responsible for preparing and implementing rigorous academic instruction while also helping students to develop social-emotional skills
- The ideal candidate will be passionate for the teaching profession with an ability to reach out to students and create a relationship of mutual trust
- They will know how to engage a class and make learning meaningful for diverse learners
- The goal is to help cultivate the students’ interest in education, and be their dedicated ally in the entire process of learning and development
- Develop and refine curricula, including a scope and sequence and lesson plans for each assigned course
- Hold high expectations for each student; behaviorally and academically
- Maintain a rigorous and engaging classroom
- Build positive rapport with students
- Establish and maintain strong communication with all parents
- Develop and participate in initiatives to continually improve and enrich student learning
- ALL stakeholders -- staff, teachers, students, and parents -- must agree that quality education is their
shared responsibility
- ALL stakeholders must be committed to high-quality standards and expectations of themselves and each other
Qualifications:
- Lead teaching experience in a classroom
- Bachelor’s degree in related content area or Bachelor’s degree and work experience in related content area
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills
