School Counselor
Kent Place School is seeking a school counselor for students in grades 6-12 to fill a part-time position (approximately 3 days per week) for the remainder of the 2021-22 academic year (January 2022 start date). Primary responsibilities will include providing supportive counseling, assessment and crisis intervention, making referrals, and providing consultation with parents, faculty, and outside mental health providers. Essential elements of this role will be to address the socio-emotional and behavioral needs of students. This counselor will join the MS/US counseling team. Candidates should be collaborative, expecting to work with all constituencies, including deans, learning support coordinators, nurses, and faculty to address psychosocial, behavioral, and co-morbid medical and learning issues. Experience with elementary school-age children is a plus.
Requirements: Candidates should have experience working with adolescent girls and families and navigating systems, a strong clinical foundation, assessment and advocacy skills, and a crisis intervention background. Graduate-level Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Counseling or another related field, Active NJLCSW or LSW, and/or State of NJ Certificate as School Social Worker is required.
