TVT Community Day School, a thriving TK-12 school of 770 students in beautiful Orange County, CA, seeks a gifted educator starting in August, 2022 to join our learning community as a full-time, Head Librarian/Associate Director of Educational Engagement to act as our “Chief Information Officer” of the school.
Located across the street from UC Irvine, TVT is very much a school on the make. We’ve recently completed a 60 million-dollar campus expansion, and for the past few years Niche rankings rated us as the #1 Jewish School in the country while also placing us in the top 2% of all private K-12 schools nationally. Applications for a spot at TVT are up by almost 600% in the last few years, and the school is adding positions due to growth. As a pluralistic Jewish day school, TVT is committed to embracing diversity in all its forms – cultural, economic, racial, ideological, observance, and otherwise. To enable this diversity, TVT commits a significant amount of its operating budget to tuition assistance and welcomes families of varying observance levels and other faiths who seek our impressive academic program rooted in Jewish values. As a result, nearly a quarter of our families – and approximately half of our staff – identify as non-Jewish and come from a variety of backgrounds. A successful candidate for this position will appreciate the art and craft of educating, embrace challenges, cultivate a rich life outside of school, find deep satisfaction in working with students, possess the emotional acuity and personality to inspire and engage young people, and maintain an excellent sense of humor. Educating can be difficult work, but it’s wildly fun and meaningful. This candidate will also wish to contribute to the larger life of TVT (e.g., club sponsorship, coaching, leading trips, designing new programs, etc.). Additionally, this candidate should feel extremely comfortable using technology to bolster learning experiences. We seek an educator who is able to plan, organize, and implement differentiated instructional programs and effectively collaborate with academic departments, grade-level teams, and individual colleagues. TVT is a highly collaborative environment; departments and grade-level teams work together to plan and implement their lessons. Strong communication skills and the desire to develop partnerships with students and parents are central to the culture here at TVT. This position should be desirable for a candidate who seeks:
· A culture that balances high academic standards
with character development -- successful TVT
graduates are citizens dedicated to the Jewish value
of tikkun olam (repairing the world)
· A culture that deeply values student and staff voice
· A culture that supports innovation and risk-taking
· A culture in which educators are encouraged to grow
and to explore areas of professional interest (the
school sets aside a sizable amount of money for
professional development and provides practical
support for educators to develop their pedagogy)
· Incredible faculty and staff who support each other
and make work feel like a second home
· A world-class campus and facilities
· A highly competitive pay scale
TVT’s mission, core values, pluralism statement, and educational philosophy drive everything at the school, and they provide insight into our culture. You can find all four at this link (www.tarbut.com/about/mission).
