Main Purpose of the Role:
The Dean of Students in the high school partners serves on the upper school administrative team with a particular focus on student life. The Dean of Students provides day-to-day support for faculty and students, and the role requires a commitment to an individual learning approach and a passion to work with students. The Dean of Students should help to cultivate an international learning community committed to educating, empowering, and inspiring and to be confident, independent critical thinkers.
Key Responsibilities:

- Provides a continuous, proactive, and overt campus presence during the school day
- Serves as a resource for teachers and staff who express concern for student attendance, student development and/or discipline. Develops and articulates expectations for positive student behavior
- Develops and implements clear action plans and strategies, seeks resolution, follows through, communicates, maintains records, etc. with all relevant parties in proactive and positive manner with regards to all student disciplinary, attendance and interpersonal issues with the goal of enabling student success in school
- Supports faculty/coaches through training for effective classroom management
- Serves as a liaison between students/families and student support services (e.g. counseling, nursing, learning support, etc.)
- Makes recommendations for appropriate revisions of code of conduct, policies and rules affecting student behavior
- Develops and administers practices dealing with campus control and security
- Maintains active and positive relationships with parents, families, and students
- Attends all student functions such as dances, athletic events, and graduations
- Maintains records of all his/her own dealings with parents and students
- Oversees student clubs and activities in the high school
- Oversees new student orientation
- Facilitates student council meetings
- Oversees the organization, oversight and follow through of the high school advisory program
- Develops and oversees the faculty duty roster
