Moravian Academy is seeking an Assistant Director to help lead the Swain Campus of 260 students in Grades PS-8. This position begins July 1, 2022.
Position Description
The Assistant Director is a full time administrator at the Moravian Academy Swain Campus, for grades Preschool through 8. The Assistant Director carries a principal or collaborative responsibility for the following roles: building leader, community steward, communication specialist, problem-solver, and supportive leader for faculty and students. The Assistant Director reports directly to the Director of the Swain Campus, serves as second in the chain of command for safety and security, and is a member of the campus leadership team. This is a 12-month position.
The effective administrator will have a strong background in the daily life of independent schools and experiences supporting teachers and students that integrate social, emotional, and academic learning through Responsive Classroom or a similar approach. Effective administrators will exhibit their passion and joy for working with children, their commitment to supporting colleagues, students, and their families, outstanding communication skills and follow-up, and an enthusiasm for keeping up with current and future practices in student-centered, culturally responsive education.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide visible leadership that sets the culture and tone for the campus, in partnership with the campus Director.
- Work positively and proactively with all community members including faculty, staff, students, and their families related to the day-to-day operations including scheduling, supervision, attendance and student conduct.
- Assist in planning and providing professional development for faculty and staff, as well as educational opportunities for parents.
- Collaborate with the campus Director and teachers to review and update curriculum.
- Take the lead on developing daily schedules for instruction and duties.
- Meet weekly with the campus Director to report and review the overall status and progress of the campus.
- Provide support and leadership to grade level teams through weekly meetings.
- Partner with the campus Director to observe and evaluate faculty.
Minimum Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field. A Master’s is preferred.
- At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in schools.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a previous background in independent schools or similar programs.
- Eligibility to work with children in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Compensation and Benefits
Moravian Academy salaries are competitive and based on years of experience and expertise.
