Headwaters School, a Pre-K through grade 12 independent day school serving over 500 students across its three campuses in Austin, TX, is seeking a full time Middle and High School Athletics Coordinator and Teacher for the 2022-2023 academic year.

The Athletics Coordinator and Teacher works closely with both our Middle and High School Directors to provide oversight, organization, and coordination for the athletics programs in middle and high school. S/he/They will also serve as a guide for two PACTivity classes (activity period) in the middle school. The AC facilitates communication between teachers, administration, students, parents, ancillary staff, and our league association in order to raise the profile of the athletic program and our student athletes.
Candidates will also be prepared to participate in the life of the school, including, but not limited to supervision of lunch, teaching an elective, coaching, sponsoring a club, serving as an advisor, chaperoning trips, and other duties as assigned by the Program Directors.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily physical education / movement classes courses for Middle School students
- Lead a High School advisory class
- Develop, organize, supervise, schedule, and evaluate the after school athletics program for the middle and high school.
- Ensure that all coaching and referee positions are filled with competent coaches properly trained in all organizational and philosophical aspects of an inclusive, no-cut, team-focused athletics program
- Participate with the administrative team in employment decisions and faculty assignments around hiring coaches. Work collaboratively with coaches to identify goals and strategies for each sport.
- Ensure the proper maintenance and security of all athletics equipment.
- Manage and secure athletic facility rentals, including working with Austin Parks and Rec and local gyms.
- Manage the delegated budget for the program and plan appropriately for new projects. This includes the purchase of uniforms and equipment, gathering coaches requests, approving expenses, and working within a budget.

- Bachelor’s Degree, required
- Coaching experience, required
- Strong commitment to equity, inclusion and belonging practices
- Understanding of kinesiology preferred
- Highly organized with attention to detail
- Friendly disposition and excellent collaborative skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience with Google suite preferred
- Commitment to personal and professional development
- Operates with a high level of integrity, professionalism and organization
This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position and compensation is competitive for the greater Austin area.
