Sterne School provides full-day instruction to lower and high school students. The school’s mission is to build on the foundation of individual strengths to discover and nurture each student’s version of greatness. In a warm respectful atmosphere, our students become confident, disciplined, responsible students, able to meet the challenges of further learning and society. The school is certified by the California State Department of Education and accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Sterne School is an equal opportunity employer.
Sterne School seeks a dynamic and inspiring educator to teach Physical Education in our Lower School (grades 4-8) and serve as Head Coach in our after school athletics program.
Physical Education
Sterne serves a range of students who bring different attitudes and skill levels to Physical Education. The PE teacher is responsible for developing a creative, engaging, and fun program that promotes physical fitness and cultivates habits that will endure beyond the classroom. Our student body consists of both athletes and students who are reluctant to participate in organized, competitive sports. A PE program that emphasizes team building, problem solving, skill development, and exposes students to a wide range of physical activities is what we need. As a critical member of the Lower School faculty, we seek a PE teacher who will inspire movement and physical activity throughout the program.
After School Athletics
Sterne competes with a number of schools in the Bay Area in a wide range of sports, including team handball, volleyball, futsal, and basketball. We also host intramural sports activities in table tennis, flag football, dodgeball, and running. The Head Coach will be primarily responsible for organizing and coaching the competitive teams. Together with the Athletic Director, the Head Coach will be responsible for recruiting and training athletes, communicating with parents, and maintaining high expectations for behavior and performance across all environments.
