Miami Country Day School seeks an enthusiastic and compassionate professional to fill the role of Upper School Counselor to begin August 2022. Falling under the umbrella of student services which report to the Chief Student Experience Officer, the Upper School Counselor works closely with administration, faculty, staff, students, and families to fulfill the mission of Miami Country Day School. They will be committed to professional growth, open to mentoring and coaching, eager for feedback, and desirous of accountability.
Knowledge, Skills, and Physical Requirements:

Master’s Degree or higher in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.

Licensure in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or a related field preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families in a school setting preferred.

Appreciation for and delight in the journey a young person takes until they reach adulthood.

Experience working with students with learning differences and social and emotional difficulties required.

Experience with mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and trauma-informed practice preferred.

A desire to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.

The ability to work on multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time delivery, accuracy, and end-user satisfaction.

A willingness to understand and support the school’s mission and vision and recognize the impact of climate and culture regarding achieving the mission and vision.

Demonstrated understanding of the needs of various constituencies within the school community and the skills and attitude to deliver an exemplary experience to all constituencies.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Basic office administration, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools
