The Position
The Tatnall School seeks a creative and personable Director of Giving and Outreach who will be responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program aimed at strengthening community relationships. This person will work closely with the Director of Advancement to increase and diversify the school’s financial resources by developing cultivation and solicitation strategies. This position will work with the Director of Advancement and Administrative Assistant to strategically engage with our valued alumni, families, faculty, and students. This position will also serve as a liaison between the Alumni Council and Tatnall leadership. Creativity, independence, and developing personal relationships with prospective/current donors, families, and alumni are paramount in this position.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Director of Advancement to create a Fundraising Action Plan to identify appropriate steps to achieve annual and long-term fundraising objectives.
- Oversee all programs designed to meet Tatnall’s fundraising goals, including: annual giving, alumni relations, special events, donor cultivation, and curating a dedicated pool of prospects.
- Provide assistance with major gifts, corporate and foundation cultivation, and planned giving.
- Screen, research, and evaluate the school’s constituency, especially at the leadership level, to appropriately target donor gifts.
- Participate in solicitation/cultivation visits with major prospects, sometimes accompanied by volunteers, the Head of School, and/or the Director of Advancement.
- Assist the Director of Advancement with targeted initiatives and special projects as needed.
- Work collaboratively with the Development Committee of the Board.
- Educate the school community on the value of The Fund for Tatnall (Annual Fund).
- Oversee creation of solicitation letters and other printed materials to promote Annual Giving.
- Plan and coordinate cultivation events for the Annual Fund.
- Develop, manage, and train volunteers to support the Annual Fund.
- Serve as primary liaison to the Tatnall Alumni Council.
- Help coordinate Homecoming and milestone reunions. Encourage reunion class gift efforts.
- Utilize Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge and Wavelength platforms to maintain regular communication with alumni via direct contact, email blasts, alumni web pages, social media, and print publications.
- Work with The Advancement Team (Development, Admissions, Marketing, Head of School) to develop creative solutions, new initiatives, special events, areas of improvement, and communication strategies.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree; advanced degree preferred
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written skills
- Creativity, complex problem solving, and independent thinking
- Strong background in marketing and securing annual gifts with a level of confidence in communication with prospective donors and volunteers
- At least five years of experience in the fields of Fundraising, Advancement and/or P2P Marketing
- Experience managing staff and volunteers, leading educational donor initiatives, and/or stewarding fundraising and constituent relationships
- Commitment to teamwork and collaboration to align fundraising activities with strategic priorities
- Event planning experience and acumen
- Warmth, sense of humor, and an appreciation of joy in an educational setting
- Sophisticated computer skills, including database management, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Blackbaud, Raiser's Edge, working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud
- Sophisticated knowledge and use of all social media platforms
