Latin School of Chicago is seeking an Upper School English Teacher.
Expectations for all faculty include:
- Developing assessments that emphasize analysis, synthesis, application to real-world problems, student collaboration, and authentic public demonstrations of student learning (Latin Strategic Plan)
- Cultivating student responsibility for skill development by helping them reflect on feedback (Statement of Teaching and Learning)
- Creating learning opportunities for students to gain empathy and promote equity (Statement of Teaching and Learning)
- Adopting inclusive classroom practices to ensure that all students, particularly those historically underrepresented, use their voices and thrive (Statement of Teaching and Learning)
- Joining with colleagues to reflect on feedback and best practices, while collaborating to design improvements in teaching (Statement of Teaching and Learning)
- Deploying successful strategies to promote writing, reading comprehension, and conversation skills for all learners
- Master's or other Graduate degree in English, Education, or related field
- At least 3-5 years' experience teaching grades 9-12
- A person who cultivates an inclusive and supportive climate for all students, particularly those from underrepresented background, and who fosters appreciation for differences in our community
- Individuals with knowledge of and interest in Middle Eastern and South Asian literature is desired
