Description and Details:
Reporting to the Head of School, the Head of Human Resources will be an integral member of Holy Child’s collaborative executive team. The Head of Human Resources will lead and manage all functional areas of human resources (HR) and will be responsible for developing and implementing an inclusive and equitable human resources strategy in support of the school’s strategic priorities. He/she will set a professional, inclusive environment and cultivate a positive work culture. They will ensure that Holy Child runs smoothly and will support the growth and retention of faculty and staff.
Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Maintain a collegial, confidential, and helpful atmosphere for faculty and staff, acting as the go-to resource for all HR matters
- Partner with internal stakeholders to implement strategies for employee engagement and retention.
- Manage recruitment of employees to include full-time, part-time, exempt, non-exempt, seasonal, faculty, and staff, with a focus on organization structure for right size and right fit
- In consultation with Head of Finance, create and manage staff recognition and reward programs.
- Coordinate the recruiting process for new employees, including the advertising of positions, reviewing resumes, arranging, and assisting with interviews, checking references, communicating, and updating the organizational chart
- Support the administration in the planning for and assignment of educational staff including projected vacancies, transfer actions, long-term substitute teacher assignments.
- Manage the employee onboarding experience including maintaining documentation and coordinating payroll and benefits, facility and system access, background checks, and mandatory training
- Manage the offboarding experience, either from voluntary or involuntary separation, including coordinating payroll and benefits, facility and system access, and exit interviews
- Maintain personnel files to answer inquiries such as employment verifications, employee reference letters for teaching certificates, and fingerprint validity
- Manage and maintain a catalog of training and professional development opportunities, both mandatory and optional, for faculty and staff, leveraging appropriate funding and resources available
- Manage training and maintaining documentation to ensure compliance with critical risk areas including but not limited to child safety and welfare, discrimination, and sexual harassment
- Facilitate the resolution of issues as they pertain to employee relations, including conducting personnel investigations as necessary and documenting evidence-based reports of such meetings, complete with resolutions, and providing follow up support where necessary
- Collaborate with leadership as to the drafting, review and updating of HR policies and procedures to include the Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct
- Work with Head of Finance and Operations on any matters that may trigger Employment Liability Claims.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred), and a minimum of 3 years of HR experience in the above areas.
- Thorough understanding of HR policies and procedures, and knowledge of Federal and State regulations, including FLSA, FMLA, COBRA, ADA, HIPAA, and EEO laws and regulations.
- Familiarity with all aspects of HR, including compensation, recruitment, benefits, training.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are essential. Ability to lead meetings and presentations, and ability to interface with all levels of staff with tact and diplomacy.
- Must be a collaborative team player, possess a strong customer service orientation, and be a consultative problem-solver.
- Ability to advocate for both staff and management.
- Highly proactive style of work, with a demonstrated track record of developing innovative approaches.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Experience with analyzing data to guide strategic employment planning.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
