Responsibilities for this full time teaching position include overseeing music courses at Maine Central Institute (MCI) during the 2022-2023 academic year. The candidate will work closely with colleagues in the Visual & Performing Arts department, as well as the Academic Office. The teaching load would include a variety of course loads depending upon the applicant's instructional knowledge, skills and expertise: Direct, lead and teach Band, Jazz and Pep Band with other course offerings such as Guitar, Musical Theory & Composition, Music and Society and Digital Music depending upon the skills and expertise of the candidate. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be highly organized and collaborative, able to teach ESOL students, and possess a desire to work at an independent residential school with a diverse student body. Job duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Arrange auditions and select members for choral and jazz groups.
- Plan, coordinate and direct musical rehearsals and performances.
- Use music experience and conducting skills to lead the choir and instrumentalists to achieve optimum effect in music performance and Festivals.
- Study the voice, rhythm, tone and tempo of every individual and coach them individually to improve their musical skills.
- Schedule regular maintenance of musical instruments.
- Monitor and maintain budgetary constraints.
- Develop positive working relationships with musicians both inside and out of the MSAD #53 community.
- Stay updated on latest developments in the music industry.
- Attend staff meetings and committee meetings as needed.

Qualifications
- Candidates must have at least a Bachelor’s degree
- Candidates must hold or have the ability to acquire State DOE clearance (fingerprinting and CHRC).
- Proficiency in use of instructional technology.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with students, peers, and supervisors.
