The Opportunity
Green Acres School is currently hiring for a Director of Summer and Auxiliary Programs, a leadership position that provides oversight of a robust range of summer and after-school programs. This role represents an enviable opportunity for an experienced auxiliary program director to leverage the many assets of Green Acres School. The Director of Summer and Auxiliary Programs will report to the Head of
School, serve on the Senior Leadership Team, and work collaboratively across other departments of the school. The position currently oversees 9 year round staff and a seasonal summer staff of 90. It will be the responsibility of the new Director to maintain the high quality of existing programs while seeking new opportunities for growth and expansion.
Position Description
The Director of Summer and Auxiliary Programs is responsible for the strategic planning and administration of all Green Acres auxiliary programs including summer camp, after school enrichment offerings, and after school care. The individual will develop and manage programs that are in keeping with the educational mission of the school, and the educational and recreational interests of the students and school community. Specific responsibilities include:
-Program Design and Management
-Financial Management
-Marketing and Communications
-Human Resources
-Operations
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Successful candidates will have the experience and expertise to lead Green Acres Summer and Auxiliary Programs to the highest degree of educational excellence. Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate the following experience and personal qualities:
-Bachelor's degree required.
-5+ years of camp or summer program leadership with progressively increasing responsibility.
-Experience with Veracross and Campminder is strongly preferred, but not required.
-Experience in an independent school environment, camp program, or nonprofit organization is preferred.
-An understanding of the financial and strategic decisions that are encountered in a not-for profit, educational mission-driven institution.
-Ability to effectively interface with all levels of the school community – school leadership, staff, the Board of Trustees, current parents, students, and alumni.
-Positive leadership style with visible enthusiasm for the camp experience.
-Ability to embrace and implement change while fostering a high level of teamwork, a
customer service orientation, and technological advancement.
-Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
-A strong commitment to education, a high level of integrity, an extraordinary work ethic and an interest in being a positive role-model.
-Demonstrated ability to set strategy and execute plans.
-Professional character that is consistent, capable, self-directed, well organized, flexible,
personable, and able to maintain composure in a changing environment.
-Respectful, clear, and patient interpersonal communication skill set that allows for
collaborative work as part of inter-departmental teams.
-The position requires availability on occasional nights and weekends.
