Hathaway Brown, one of the country’s most distinguished private schools, with a nationally recognized science research program, seeks a full-time Upper School Biology & AP Biology teacher for the 2022-23 academic year. The School seeks a superior candidate to teach in a highly competitive, cutting-edge science department. The ideal applicant will have experience in the area of biology and with the ability to teach AP Biology. The ability to teach chemistry, physics, or environmental science is a plus. Dedication to the independent school setting is a must. Teaching certification not required.

Responsibilities include:
- Instructing 4 full-credit courses to include Biology and AP Biology classes.
- Mentoring approximately 10 Upper School students (academic counseling, community building, parent/guardian communication, conferencing.)
- Engaging in the life of the Upper School (presence at assemblies, events, etc.)
- Chaperoning/supervisory duties approximately three times a year.
- Participating in school-wide, departmental, divisional, and mentor team meetings.
- Writing college letters of recommendation for students when appropriate.
- Coaching is not required but a plus.

The Upper School science teacher will possess the following:
- A degree in biology or a related field, Bachelor minimum, Masters preferred. Teaching certification is not required.
- The ability to develop and implement an effective and engaging curriculum; highly competent teacher.
