New Canaan Country School is a co-ed, independent day school for students in Pre-K (ages 3 & 4) through Grade 9 living in Fairfield and Westchester Counties. New Canaan Country School seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated professional to provide critical support for the school’s Advancement Department. The Advancement Associate will support fundraising and stewardship objectives and will help the school continue to build on a culture of philanthropy and support. This position will help to grow engagement across all constituent groups - with a particular focus on supporting the school’s alumni engagement and outreach efforts. This position works closely with all members of the school community including: faculty and staff, current parents, alumni, parents of alumni, and grandparents. The ability to build relationships, communicate clearly and effectively, and help manage multiple projects is essential. The start date for this 12-month position is July 1, 2022.
Responsibilities
- Support all of the school’s fundraising efforts, including the Annual Fund, our annual Giving Day, the Capital Campaign, and other major gifts initiatives
- Assist with prospect identification and research
- Support donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts
- Assist with alumni engagement efforts throughout the year including managing class notes, helping to manage the Alumni Council, helping to plan alumni reunions and other gatherings, assisting with alumni fundraising efforts, supporting alumni outcomes and story/editorial efforts, and other responsibilities.
- Provide support for events, including fundraising, cultivation, and alumni events, and other school gatherings
- Assist with the production of alumni content in the Bulletin, the school’s twice-yearly magazine
- Work with the Director of Advancement and the Advancement and Marketing and Communications teams to create and maintain an annual calendar that includes a schedule for fundraising appeals, mailings, and associated events
- Assist with photography and video production needs in support of fundraising and marketing initiatives
- Help to maintain, refresh, and produce fundraising and marketing materials and other print materials
- Help to coordinate and manage the school’s social media platforms for alumni and parent of alumni engagement purposes\Support the school’s commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion through fundraising efforts and constituent engagement
- Support key volunteer groups, including the Alumni Council, Annual Fund Ambassadors, Parents’ Association, and the Advancement Committee
- Contribute to school operations with assigned support responsibilities (e.g. carline, reception desk support, and other potential areas within the school community)
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree required
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Google Suite, comfort with databases (Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge database experience preferred), social media proficiency, and insight into emergent technologies
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- This position will require some occasional evening and weekend work
Desired Qualities
