Paideia is a pre K-12 college preparatory school of over 1000 students in the Emory University area of Atlanta. Paideia is looking for a full time Theater Tech coordinator.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This person will work closely with both the Art/Music/Drama department at all levels of the school and with the Facilities director. The responsibilities of the theater tech coordinator includes but is not limited to:
- Setting up and breaking down all Art & Music concerts, dress rehearsals
- Creating videos for events when needed school wide
- Support elementary school events - plays & musicals
- Provide technical support for internal all school events: assemblies, grandparent’s day, talent shows, etc.
- Provide technical support for high school and junior high musicals - oversee the building of sets, work with outside vendors. Work with the Music department chair and director of the musicals to create the set and vision of the department.
- Work closely with the faculty sponsor of the Theater Tech Club in coordination of student staffing of certain events in the Theater and student tech roles in musicals and plays.
- Oversee events in the theater to make sure rules, regulations and safety protocols are in place
- Attending production meetings for musicals - Student Run, HS and Junior High Musicals
- Oversee the theater budget, keep the theater clean / maintain facilities
- Keeping track of the theater calendar and availability
Required Skills and Abilities:
The hours of this position can fluctuate depending on the week/month. During musicals, production time may include weekends, however during low months of events, the coordinator does not have to be available at all times. We are looking for someone who has experience in sound boards, lighting, sets, and productions. Ability to stay organized, be available when needed and work collaboratively with both the music department and facilities is a must.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a BA and 3-5 years of experience working in theater tech (set design, lighting, sound boards and production). Working in schools and with students is preferred.
