This position is the home-based teacher for a Primary classroom (early elementary: Prekindergarten, Kindergarten, Grade 1) in small class sizes of 12-15 students. The Primary educator is the principal teacher for students in the subjects of language arts, math, and social studies. The Primary teacher creates and administers a classroom program that is conducive to student learning and which emphasizes mutual respect for all people.
Essential Functions include but are not limited to:
- Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
- Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
- Prepare and administer assignments in order to evaluate students' progress.
- Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress, and to determine their priorities for their children and their resource needs.
- Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use.
- Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of early elementary school programs.
- Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.

Basic requirements include but are not limited to:
- Early Childhood and Elementary Education teaching certificate with a language arts major or minor.
- A minimum of 2 years as a lead teacher in grades Prekindergarten-Grade 1 in an independent school environment with experience teaching language arts and math.
- Strong teaching ability; enjoy working with children.
- Ability to work well with students and colleagues; willingness to be an active, enthusiastic member of the ASH community.
- Willingness to adapt to an existing curriculum as well as contribute ideas to enhance the respective academic programs.
