EHS seeks its next director of the McCain-Ravenel Center for Intellectual and Moral Courage. The director will report to the Assistant Head for Academics, with guidance from the Head of School.
The director will:
- Work in partnership with key administrators to integrate mission-driven program and purpose smoothly into EHS daily life and schedule
- Manage team of MRC personnel
- Oversee curricular “flex-blocks”, EHS’s signature place-based experiential education
- Develop strategic partnerships for work with students and faculty, including continued development of “Civil Dialogue Series” and continued opportunities for exploration of the meaning of “courage” in the modern American world
- Oversee McCain-Ravenel Center Mondays (five special days per year)
- Oversee Externship Program and Senior May Program
- Oversee other signature programs such as outdoor education and service learning
- Provide faculty professional growth support around experiential learning
- Work closely with admissions and advancement to promote the value and goals of the MRC
- Oversee MRC speaker, experience, and transportation budget
The successful candidate will have many of the following qualities and skills:
- Wide experience of DC (or ability to learn); able to leverage a network for school partnerships
- Initiative to promote and organize full-year programming
- Attention to detail in planning and scheduling MRC programs
- Ability to lead and manage a team
- Ability to articulate the mission and vision of the MRC in writing and in public speaking
- Commitment to EHS mission and values
- Cultural competency to work in a diverse learning environment
- Ability to collaborate with a wide range of constituencies, on and off campus.
- Understanding of experiential education/learning
