Friends School Haverford is seeking a part-time Director of Extended Day to work with children from our early childhood (N-PK) and elementary (K-5th grade) classrooms. The hours are from 2:00 pm-6:00 pm, and the program is from 3:00-6:00 pm and operates during on-campus evening events and school breaks. Dependent on the state of the pandemic.
Working collaboratively with the Head of School to provide a safe, secure, and structured program for students in Nursery School through Grade 5 that balances the needs of a wide range of ages by creating and staffing and ensures that snack, playtime, academic support, and outdoor play are offered.
Strong candidates will have:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working with children
- A love for teaching
- Experience giving and interpreting reading assessment tools
- A broad repertoire of strategies to work with a diverse group of children
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Excitement about working closely and collaboratively with other educators
- Experience teaching in a religiously and culturally diverse setting
- A high level of interest in Quaker education
Responsibilities include:
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff who work for the Extended Day program
- Maintain all attendance and record-keeping for billing purposes.
- Coordinate with Business Manager to ensure accurate financial record-keeping.
- Coordinate with the Assistant Head of School to ensure that academic and emotional concerns are understood and supported during the XD program.
- Create and deliver clear, warm, customer-service-oriented communication with families and the entire school community, including enrollment contracts and Weekly Update content.
- Work with the Director of Enrollment Management to ensure the program reflects the school’s mission and philosophy.
- Ensure that all XD staff and any outside sponsors have the necessary and required paperwork in place.
