The Role. MVS is seeking a meticulous and accurate database administrator and technology coordinator. This individual provides strategic leadership for the school’s student information system, Senior Systems, in addition to the specific day-to-day operations of the academic database to assure the highest standards of quality, consistency, and accuracy. This technology coordinator also maintains and coordinates the effective running of all academic technology platforms, such as Canvas and Grade Guardian. This person is intimately involved in developing and implementing the academic schedule EC-12 as well as performing many duties usually associated with the role of Registrar. This culturally inclusive individual interacts frequently with all MVS constituencies and must handle those interactions with empathy and care.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Database Administration
- Senior Systems is an SQL-based database and is connected to many functions of the school—development/alumni office, finance, enrollment and academics. This position ensures the ongoing accuracy and integrity of the database by updating department documentation, providing user training, implementing quality control measures and regular corrections/updates.
- Responsible for oversight of the database and overall data integrity, and overall system upgrades and usage
- Ensure that appropriate information is shared among the modules including the creation of student and parent records as new students enroll
- Assist as internal help-desk for Sr. Systems challenges and questions
- Develop and maintain a dynamic list of policies, procedures and regulations related to the use of the School’s data management systems
- Collaborate with the Technology Department on database system
- Consult with users to guide, define and evaluate needs
- Analyze systems, recommend solutions, and oversee upgrades, conversions, fixes, and plug-ins, etc.
- Oversee End of Year rollover for all modules
- Other Academic Technology Platforms
- Responsible for maintenance of the Learning Management System overall data integrity, and overall system usage
- Assist as internal help-desk for Sr. Systems challenges and questions
- Ensure that appropriate information is properly integrated from the MVS student information system batch import running each evening
- Troubleshoot issues as helpdesk support for parents, faculty, staff and students of Canvas Learning Management System
- Create and maintain parent observer accounts, pair and align to their student(s) and proper division courses for communication of school events, announcements, policies, and procedures.
- Update documentation for Parent and faculty instruction as needed
- Responsible for the proper assignment of LMS user roles
- Create new and maintain proper student to faculty advisory and learning lab assignments
- Create and Import initial data file for school year communication, aligning with proper subgroups, messengers, parent, student, faculty and staff
- Routinely review communication reports for any missed messages, disconnected numbers and investigate, and correct in main Student Information System
- Maintain updates as changes, withdrawals, and new students need added

- Create, courses, sections, and load students for lower and middle school
- Create, courses, sections, schedule, and load students for upper school
- Facilitate middle and upper school faculty with recommendations process and subsequent creation of individualized student course request sheets
- Create materials and provide training for upper school faculty to successfully complete scheduling conferences
- Track all upper school student course requests, confirm prerequisites, and graduation requirements to ensure accurate scheduling
- Work with students, families, faculty, and division directors for scheduling change support

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent education and experience) with a minimum of three years relevant experience in database management
- Demonstrate computer literacy and proficiency (e.g., Google suite of applications, student information systems and online grade book programs)
- Demonstrated advanced skills in using Microsoft Office programs
- Demonstrated success in detail-oriented work and outstanding organizational skills
